GREAT BNT EATS
HEALESVILLE RSL
Great roast meals with loads of roast meat and potatoes. Vege variety as well without brussel sprout or leek spoilers.
NARBETHONG SERVO
Did a really good burger at the end of my first day (saved me cooking that evening). Chips were hot and chunky - great for holding the heat in cold weather.
DARGO PUB
Pumpkin soup so thick that it sits above the bowl. A great pepper touch as well. Crispy bread chunks to garnish. High Plains Porterhouse with pepper sauce and veges. Boy can Megan cook up a good meal. I did have to ask what a Garlic Door Stopper was... which turned out to be a little embarrassing.
OMEO HILLTOP PUB
They specialise in Australian and Chinese meals here. I had to have some Chinese and it was superb. A variety of dishes prepared quickly and served hot. I was told where the cutlery was and the (Chinese) lady was silently impressed that I chose to use chopsticks. Dim sims were spot on too.
ADIMINABY CARAVAN PARK
Because if you can catch a fish in Lake Eucumbene you can cook it any which way at the caravan park. Plus you've got a retired Sweedish cook to give you plenty of advice and to entertain you.
SUBWAY
In any major centre I have to go in as I can't get enough of the stuff they serve. My favourite is a footlong ham on wholemeal (or any of the new breads they have now) with cheese, maybe a splash of mayo or mustard, all the salads except the chili and extra pickle and olives. If you've got the spare coins, buy a cookie or three.
PIZZA HUT
Ok, they don't make fantastic gourmet pizzas but when you are in for a big feed for a good price with plenty of variety then this is the place to go. Sizzler is much the same but I haven't struck one of those yet. I could barely walk when I left the PH in Belconnen.
HAMPTON ROAD HOUSE
The way to dine in the country with a bit of European culture. A simple but tasteful menu. You get to sit by a roaring log fire to dine, can wander and look at the myriad of collectables around the room while you wait, or talk to the Austrian bloke who works there about nearly anything. If you get a milkshake you get to pour it yourself so you can drink it out of a glass.

Hungry while in town? You bet! Camp food can be great, but it’s easy to feel like royalty when you get to sit on a chair and have someone else cook and wash up for you!
After analysing everything you eat for rationing, quality, hunger level, days before restocking etc., it’s nice to just sit down and simply eat.
